In this Issue:
Are You Serious?
Old dates are implanted in our memories: July 4, 1776 is known to us all, and some among us might remember where we were on December 7, 1941 or July 20, 1969.
Further, if you’re married or have a long-standing boyfriend or girlfriend with whom you share years’ worth of memories, no doubt you recall your first date with great fondness.
Indeed, old dates can conjure up deeply held and cherished times and memories.
But those fond sentiments aren’t true when we’re talking about your resume.
Are you serious about wanting to advance your career by introducing yourself to some of the hundreds of client companies who advertise on our website? If so, then you cannot live in the past – not even the recent past.
Clients like searching all resumes updated in the past 30 days; in fact, many candidates update their resume daily, as that effort will cause their documentation to come up early when a client searches for a professional who fits an urgent need.
Therefore, hiring authorities at client companies feel frustrated when they come across a strong candidate whose resume lacks updated contact information or a most up-to-date employer listed. Candidates have lost the chance to interview for positions because they do not make themselves immediately available to be reached at a client’s convenience.
To update your resume, you must log into your account on ConstructionJobs.com and pull up your resume, then click “Update” at the end of your resume.
This simple, quick act will increase the likelihood of a client finding your resume.
Construction companies – both established clients and new partners of ours - post new positions everyday, and in a fiercely competitive market, those candidates who are most diligent have the best chance of securing that opportunity of a lifetime. Visit as often as you can to be among the first to find your dream job (search the zip code or state you want, for example); just as aggressiveness and self-assertiveness can serve you well at work, so too they can serve you well when you are seeking work.
Beyond that, make sure that you apply for the position that most appropriately fits your background and experience. Read the postings thoroughly and all the way through to find out what the requirements are for the position being offered. After having done this, you will better be able to see if you fit the description of the position.
For example, an employer may need a Project Manager who is willing to work in the office and in the field. If you have always been in the office and don’t want to adapt to field work, that’s probably a position for which you should not apply. Though that opportunity may not be right for you, it can still serve as a way for you to introduce yourself to a company who doesn’t yet know about your talents.
Finally, if you really are looking for work you are going to need to make sure that you are applying to the positions posted online correctly. I suggest either applying through ConstructionJobs.com or contacting the person who has their information on the posting directly.
If you are making sure that you have applied to the position that fits all your background experience and criteria, you are actively checking our site to make sure and find the positions you are considering, and applying correctly for your position then I think YOU REALLY ARE LOOKING FOR A JOB. Good luck on your hunt … and leave us a testimonial if you find your dream job! We always love to hear great feedback!
Old dates and fuzzy memories are good when you’re reminiscing with your sweetheart, but they are bad news when you want to get serious about finding a new and challenging position to advance your career.

Don't Drive Around in Circles
Every family seems to have a story centered on the stubborn husband who refuses to look at a map and resists getting directions from locals as he and his wife drive aimlessly around looking for their destination, getting more and more lost with each mile. The husband’s defense, invariably, is that as long as the car is moving, that’s progress. The wife counters with the argument that wasted effort, time and gasoline could be saved if her spouse weren’t so obstinate.
Likewise, you can’t afford to drive around in circles and get lost when you are considering advancing or changing your career. Today’s construction industry is fast-paced, and when a construction professional considers a change, a smart, targeted effort will help him or her reach a happy resolution.
ConstructionJobs.com provides a trusted and reliable map to success for project managers, estimators, foremen, superintendents, tradespeople, and other talented builders and designers. We would like to offer you the good directions you need that will help you as you search for a new and challenging position.
Please visit the Job Postings Board at ConstructionJobs.com. It is an easy road to negotiate and may present a job opportunity that exactly matches your talents and ambitions. We add job postings constantly, so check often.
Also, be sure to register and post your own up-to-date resume on our website. The many construction companies with whom we are partners keep close tabs on the talented professionals like you who register with us, so give yourself access to those leading builders by sending your information our way.
The super highway of information doesn’t have to be a maze. Let us help you plot a course to the destination you want to reach.
Current Resumes Get Viewed More
Did you know that current resumes dated within the past month are viewed by employers 20 times more than resumes over 30 days old? It's true! The older your resume, the less likely an employer will click to view it. To update your resume to today's date, login to your account and select Resume, then Update.
